This web site is for our beloved mother, Madeline Laurnell
Cooper Bremner (Laurnell Bremner). She was a good
mother to us and she will never be forgotten.

her by friends and family on Oct 4, 2008.
Laurnell Bremner died suddenly at the age of 33
of meningitis, leaving behind a husband and four
children, (from left, below) Doug (age 4), Anne (7),
Lynn (9) and
Steve (age 10), as well as many
friends
and other relations.
We still miss her. We keep her memory alive
through the way we live our lives.
Her Life
Laurnell was born in Spokane, Washington, in 1932.
She was put up for adoption after birth. Her son Doug had
adoption records opened many years later and
after several years of detective work with the
help of the
Eastern Washington Genealogical Society
was able to trace her biological family, which you can
read about in the biography. Laurnell attendeed college
and married James Douglas Bremner. They eventually
settled in Olympia, WA, where he practiced psychiatry.
Her Impact
Laurnell is remembered as a woman who had lots of
love and encouragement for her four children,
someone with an active mind who was an avid reader,
took an active role in environmental and political
causes, and was interested in Eastern philosophies
and religions. She was a member of the Unitarian
Fellowship of Olympia, WA. Her four children have
had successful careers in law, science, medicine,
education, the arts, and the armed forces.
Her children and seven grandchildren carry
on her spirit, creativity, intelligence,
instinct for helping others, and fight for
justice and what is right.
